Hand Crafted Growlers

There is a Story Behind Every Growler

Philip began his relationship with pottery in 1979. Following six years of intensive focus on wheel throwing he had the opportunity to study under John Takehara at Boise State University. John granted Phil an "Independent Study Course" that took him out of his comfort zone with the wheel and propelled him into the sculptural world where he found his true passion.

In 1994 Philip emigrated to Australia where he lived and worked for 6 years before returning home to the United States.  While in Australia, he owned and operated a ceramic firing service in the coastal town of Byron Bay.   Noted in the Winter edition of the publication, Pottery in Australia, Volume 38, Number 2,  "..due to Philip's specialization in large Paperclay forms, mold making and modified slip cast abstract sculptures...Philip's vision is to provide a firing service, conduct guest workshops and undertake commission works while exploring a diverse range of multimedia opportunities."

Philip is now supplying the burgeoning MicroBrewery industry with hand crafted, one of a kind Porcelain growlers on a limited run production scale. Having produced over 500 pieces for breweries like Deschutes Brewery, Bend, Oregon. Sockeye, and Payette Breweries both in Idaho, Park City and Hopper's Breweries of Utah.  The growlers are popular gift items at the Island Hoppin' Brewery of Orcas Island, Washington where he started.

Philip creates all works by hand using his own prototypes and molds which results in limited edition production runs of hand glazed 2 and 1 liter growlers.  He has drawn on his years of experience with a vast and varied skill set to provide unique, robust and beautiful, functional artworks that satisfy the beer, wine, chai, coffee and kombucha beverage industries as a start. His 1 liter MiniMoon bottles pay homage to the distilleries of yesteryear and the true production potters that relied on hand thrown vessels to ply their trade.

Drink Rinse Repeat is a culmination of years of perseverance, insight and creativity.  Ever inventive, new processes and products are on the horizon.  His passion for working with clay, interacting with people and always pressing the envelope to satisfy current markets or creating niche products for the MicroBrew industry.

Formed with talent and spirit, crystallized with white hot fire and marketed with enthusiasm, Drink Rinse Repeat Growlers will last a lifetime and more with proper care.  This "future archaeology"  will light up your mantle, stylize your fridge and make your friends envious.
